The present composition derives from the painting by Raphael in the Louvre, Paris, which was executed in 1518. Jürg Meyer zur Capellen suggests that the present painting is based on a copy made by Raphael’s workshop and has tentatively attributed the present work to Girolamo Muziano (Brescia 1532- 1592 Rome) (see literature).
