1968 Chevrolet Camaro 327 V8 Convertible (no reserve)

1968 Chevrolet Camaro 327 V8 Convertible (no reserve) - Historická motorová vozidla

In the autumn of 1967, Chevrolet presented the Camaro as a long overdue competitor to the Ford Mustang. Based on the so-called F-Body chassis it featured sleek bodywork with a long front and short back, with exactly the same wheelbase as the galloping competition. Like the Mustang, the Camaro was available as a coupé or as a convertible, with a wide selection of engine and transmission options. Other features were also be individually selectable. The first series already came close in 1970.

The present Chevrolet Camaro, according to a badge in the engine compartment, left the GM plant in Norwood in the third week of September 1968, painted white with a gold interior and black top, powered by a 327 cubic inch V8. Judging by a bumper sticker, it appears to have spent the first years of its life in Augusta, Georgia. The Camaro was first registered in Austria on 6 June 1972. After the first set was lost, it was issued new papers in 1977, stating that it had been in possession of his second and last owner since 1977. A letter from GM Austria, dated 3 June 1977, confirms the technical specifications for the single vehicle approval.
The enclosed picture shows that the Camaro was already painted its current green at the time. The owner has since passed but his daughter, the consigner, describes in warm terms her father’s love for his car. Owing to age, the convertible has spent the past 10 years in a garage. It will be up to the next owner to breathe new life into this smart convertible!
