Marijke de Kinkelder of the RKD has confirmed the present painting to be an autograph work by Romeyn. It is unique in Romeyn’s oeuvre because of its precise topography, which allows us to identify the town of Penne and the Gran Sasso d’Italia in the Abruzzo region.
