We are grateful to Andrea Emiliani for confirming the attribution. The present painting is associated with one of Cantarini’s drawings in the Uffizi in Florence. After 1645, Cantarini transposed this composition, with slight changes, into a large altarpiece (today Church of San Lorenzo, Milan).
The present copper plate, according to Andrea Emiliani, can be dated to after 1639, when Cantarini had returned to Pesaro for a short time.
