An outsider to the established photo-scene in Czechia during the 70ies and 80ies, the professional painter Miroslav Tichì used manually assembled cameras to create highly individual pictures. His subjects were predominantly women from the small Moravian town Kyjov, cought unawares.
Part of the pictures’s originality derives from the fact that they ignore the traditional techniques and rules of composition. The focused curatorial and publishing efforts of Roman Buxbaum, turned his work into an international sensation, with prestigeous at the Kunsthalle Zurich and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
