The Venetian artist Fabio Canal was a pupil ad a follower of Giambattista Tiepolo (1696-1770). Unfortunately only a small part of his oeuvre has survived, his drawings have hitherto been researched in only a few articles. Comparable drawings by Canal including are the study "Two bishops and other figures" in the Morgan Library and Museum, New York (Inv. IV. 87a; B.
