We are grateful to Fred Meijer from the RKD, who identified the present paintings as by the workshop of Jan van Kessel I on the basis of photographs.
He writes: „(These paintings) are most probably by the artist (or several artists) we still describe as ‘studio of Jan van Kessel the Elder’, but who was most likely from Southern Europe and unrelated to Jan van Kessel […].”
