From the period 1905–1906 onwards, when Constant Westchiloff visited Italy with a grant from the St. Petersburg society for the support of artists, views of Italy became a recurring subject in his works. The view of a terrace on Capri is one of Westchiloff’s favourite motifs and stands out with its particularly direct and lively technique.
