Walther Bernt states that Wouters: “in his art, the landscape, characterised by a special equilibrium, fully comes into its own. The generously rendered foliage under a bright blue sky covered with white clouds is typical of this artist. The mythological and biblical figures populating his compositions display harmony and ensure a great visual diversity. The erotes, which frequently recur in his works, are reminiscent of those of Van Dyck and P. van Avont.”
