"Sit-Sat" seating object,

designed by Massimiliano Fuksas * & Doriana Mandrelli * in 2007, for Sawaya & Moroni, Italy, multilayered plywood, white aniline patina, waterproof, shockproof matt paint finish, height 125 cm, 226 x 145 cm, height of seat 36 cm. (DR) A prototype. From what appears to have been a meeting preordained by fate between an entrepreneur, who tilts at anonymous, soulless design, and an impassioned architect, who gives consistency to clouds and light, there comes a piece that is all but religious. A sort of ancient rock, eroded by time, its edges rounded off, likes the Olgas mountains venerated by the Australian aborigines. Or, better still, a phallic element, something like the raw earth dwellings of the Dogun people in Africa. With the aid of a patient operation of joinery, what takes shape is a model with no ancestors of its kind, almost a new, disturbing archetype that invites you to find new ways of sitting, revitalising the complicity of meaningful looks, the necessary precursor to the amorous approach that has been neglected for far too long.
