A tremendous testimony to the early days of automotive engineering!

Cadillac launched the Type 59 in 1920, and its final evolutionary stage was the Type V-63, which was built in 1924 and 1925. Besides a host of other modifications, the mechanical brakes for the front wheels were the most important innovation! This luxury automobile was available with a standard wheelbase of 368.3 cm and with a shorter wheelbase of 335.3 cm. The V-63 was powered by the final iteration of Cadillac’s legendary L-Head V8. It was equipped with a split camshaft for 1923 and a bank angle of 90 degrees. Its power of 83.5 hp was virtually inconceivable for its age!

This Cadillac is a version with a shorter chassis, built with a coupé bodywork. As the luxury vehicle of its age, it has a state-of-the-art line, a homogenous vehicle body and large windows. The integrated boot was accessible from outside. The bodywork itself is moulded, including doors and tailgates with integrated dust shields. The look of the interior is equally elegant as its outsides. Unfortunately, the original fabric was eaten away by moths. Already refurbished externally, there is some work to be completed on the inside. The Cadillac is a fabulous looker with a powerful engine and wheels with wooden spokes that dates from an age in which most people rode bicycles, if anything at all. The four wheel brakes enable its use even 85 years later. The coupé is a consummately fascinating vehicle, a witness to a period in which, although technical progress advanced in leaps and bounds each year, the Cadillac remained well ahead of many competitors.
