The present drawing goes back to Raphael’s painting “The Entombment” (1507), preserved in the Galleria Borghese in Rome today. The Graphic Collection of Munich preserves a group of comparable drawings with an attribution to Cesare Pollino (formerly Baccio Bandinelli), which are quite similar with the present drawing in the type of wash, particularly in the faces but also in the modelling of the bodies. The Munich drawings (Inv.-Nrn. 2228 Z to 2231Z) are particularly interesting in this respect.
