Rädler called himself the Court Painter of Austria, Italy and Siam.
He moved to Vienna aged 23, where he became a porcelain painter.
As Carl Rädler, he founded the “Rädler & Pilz Artistic Workshop for Porcelain Painting” in 1872 with Robert Pilz – which was a very successful company.
Around 1893, he was admitted to a private mental asylum in Lainz (Vienna) at his family’s insistence, and shortly after moved to the Pilgerhain mental asylum, then transferred to the “Emperor Franz Josef Regional Institute for Healing and Healthcare” in Mauer Öhling in Lower Austria. He lived there until his death.
