1948 Vespa 125

1948 Vespa 125 - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

In 1948 the Vespa received its first bigger makeover. With a larger bore the engine had increased to 125 cc. The suspension in the front was redesigned and a rear suspension with coil spring and shock absorber was added. The engine cover received a new locking system and an opening on the bottom. The mounting bolts for the gear shift were enforced and the linkage was now running inside the frame from the brake pedal backwards. And last but not least the Vespa finally got a little side stand so it no longer needed to be leaned to the side onto the footboard.

Also the Vespa 125 was steadily improved over its short time of production. Of the V1T model only 16.000 examples were built in 1948, less than of the V98. With few surviving this makes her hard to find these days and a favorite among advanced collectors.

Its Italian origin is documented with the still existing old Libretto dating back to the early 1950s. After the Vespa had moved north to Austria it was completely restored with incredible attention to details around the millennium. All the work carried out is accurately documented in word and pictures and the high quality still speaks for itself today.
