![A chair, School of Adolf Loos - Design A chair, School of Adolf Loos - Design](/fileadmin/lot-images/40D191002/normal/stuhl-schule-adolf-loos-6383177.jpg)
first half of the 20th century, manufactured by Friedrich Otto Schmidt (attributed), dainty construction made of solid wood, with brass sabots, the seat with polychrome striped textile covering. Height c. 96 cm, width c. 48 cm, depth c. 50 cm, height of seat c. 46 cm. (MHA)
Adolf Loos used very similar armchair models for several interiors. The Friedrich Otto Schmidt company adapted the chair models for its clients. Especially the details of the chair legs bear strong similarities to the so-called Stössler model from 1899, which was later used in slightly modified form for, inter alia, the headquarters of the Manz’sche Universitäts- und Verlagsbuchhandlung in Vienna (1912).
