...The impact that the bird’s-eye view has on the level of form results in a kind of “philosophical distance” from the everyday phenomena of the world on the level of content. This world is
regarded more as a curiosity, seeming to be full of satirical and fantastic traits which only become recognisable from a distance. In addition to Laske’s important formal references, which are expressed again and again in his other compositions and are yet further developed in Laske’s own formal language, it is, therefore, above all the common philosophical component of his outlook on the world that is to be emphasised. This outlook describes a “theatrum mundi” located within a deep, humorous humanity from a perspective that is both literally and figuratively elevated.
