Second-hand car with its original title
Hans Glas GmbH in Dingolfing had already made a name for itself as a manufacturer of agricultural machinery before branching out into the automotive business in 1955. The Goggomobil Sedan was considered solid engineering with a state-of-the-art pontoon body – so like many of its ‘big’ siblings, but with a 250 or 300 ccm engine. This was the first affordable vehicle that fulfilled the dream of car ownership in the period immediately after the war!
This Goggomobil is an early model with doors hinged at the back. It was first registered on 13 June 1961, and the title lists just two owners before its deregistration in 2003. According to information provided by the consignor, it was then thoroughly refurbished and donated to a museum as an exhibition piece. The consignor then purchased it from the museum, but only changed its purpose marginally. The Goggo remains in an ambitiously restored, entirely orderly condition, but with the typical finishing blemishes of its period. The roadworthy sedan is submitted for auction with its original German title, albeit expired.
