wristwatch, stainless steel, self-winding, lever movement numbered N674115, calibre 1030, 25 stones, black dial, luminous dot, baton and dagger numerals, date, central second, 24-hour indicator, turning bezel, case numbered 427450, reference 6542, diameter ca.38 mm, c. 1958, folding fastening,83,4 g, reworked, replaced parts, with box, non matching warranty from 1959 enclosed. Rolex introduced the GMT-Master with the reference 6542 as a time zone watch for pilots in 1954. The first models did not have a crown protector and a bezel with bakelite inlay. The plastic was replaced relatively quickly by aluminium number rings, which afforded better durability. The reference 6542 was produced until 1959. The present watch has a supplemented dial of a later date. The hands and bezel have also been replaced.
