so-called Tabernakel, ‘à trois corps’, Austria, second third of the 18th century, walnut veneer softwood frame, curved front, marquetried in the shape of panels and partly with yew in bands, 3-drawer chest of drawers, writing compartment with fall-front and inner drawers, compartments, upper section with volute-shape finials and 9 drawers, 1 door lined with velvet interior, gilt brass fittings, c. 207 x 129 x 65 cm, losses to the veneer, fissures, wood elements replaced over the course of a previous restoration, signs of age and use.
