so-called ‘bureau de dame’, modified Louis XV style of the late 19th century, hardwood and softwood frame in curved form, veneered with various woods such as rosewood, mahogany and amaranth, the brass-edged top lavishly marquetried with floral motifs and acanthus leaves as well as pine cones, 3 drawers as well as 3 sham drawers, ornamented with bronze mounts in the form of female heads at the corners (so-called ‘espagnolettes’), c. 76 x 114 x 78 cm, after a previous restoration new fissures to the top, signs of age and use.
