1965 Steyr-Puch 500 D

1965 Steyr-Puch 500 D - CLASSIC CARS and Automobilia

Single previous owner and completely restored!

1957 marks the beginning of an Austrian success story: Puch motor works presents the Steyr-Puch 500 Model Fiat.
While its body was from Turin, the rest was made in Graz. An air-cooled boxer engine and fully synchronised transmission made sure the little Styrian was better in every way than its Italian cousin. Under continuous development, more than 60,000 “Pucherl” were produced until 1975, making up their own chapter of Austrian automotive history!

The present Steyr-Puch was registered on 27 April 1965 in Vienna until 17 September 1984. The consigner acquired the Puch and had it completely restored. It was taken apart, the body overhauled and painted, the interior and wiring replaced. The engine was also given an overhaul and then the entire car was put together again using new seals. After a while, the extent of the restoration was such that cost became a secondary concern – the main thing was that the car should be beautiful. It was not a rational endeavour, and herein lies the opportunity for the prospective owner. This Puch 500 D was restored employing a lot of money and expertise. By the way, it also comes with “suicide doors” and the original Austrian type-approval certificate. As a result, the car may well be unique!
