Mixed lot (2 items): Yakoma, Ngbandi, Dem. Rep. of Congo: Two knifes with typically shaped blades, the hilts wrapped in brass. - Tribal Art

1: A knife of the Yakoma or Ngbandi, from northwestern Congo. The double-edged blade is offset from the hilt and widens towards the tip. An ornamental hole decorates the centre of the the upper section, whilst a dotted line runs along the ridge on both sides. The narrow wooden hilt is tightly wrapped with robust brass wire. L: 28.2 cm.
2: A similar knife from the same region, but with a longer and narrower double-edged blade. The offset base of the blade is forged from two pieces. The wooden hilt is also wrapped in thick brass wire. L: 33.3 cm.
Both knives have rusty blades as a result of prolonged improper storage. Otherwise no damage. (ME)
