Provenance: collector’s mark John Barnard (Lugt 1417 on the reverse; this print mentioned in Lugt, p. 257, auction London, 16th April 1798); and stamp Robert Stayner Holford (Lugt 2243, on the reverse).
Very excellent, dark impression with rich contrasts of the first state (of VI), before the signature and dating and before the addition of the window and the retouches in the background. Foxing in the corner of the wall at upper left margin, otherwise in an excellent condition. Extremely rare.
