Oskar Kleineh first attended a drawing class at the Finnish art society in Helsinki before receiving instruction at the Düsseldorf Academy. This was followed by years of study at the academies in Karlsruhe and St. Petersburg, as well as several years spent in Paris, before finally returning to Helsinki. His works mainly depict maritime seascapes, often including motifs drawn from his homeland, as well as Denmark, the Bretagne or Norway.
