1971 Mercedes-Benz 230

Original 86,000 kilometre mileage!
Sensationally preserved, owned by just one family!
The colloquial term of “Stroke 8” was coined in the official première year of 1968. Over 1.9 million Stroke 8s were built until December 1976, and in 1974 it was even the highest-selling personal vehicle in Germany. The timeless shape of the body with its clear lines bereft of fashionable frills was produced by Paul Bracq. The outstanding qualities of the Stroke 8 meant that it influenced an entire generation of automobiles over the course of its career. Anyone preferring a pluckier motorisation picked the six-cylinder models, although they came at a price.
In this precise case it was 135,200 shillings that the original owner paid for the 230 with its parchment-white custom coat of paint, blue fabric interior, automatic gearbox, power steering, stick shift and heat-insulated glass, according to the original invoice of 16 September 1970. The Mercedes has remained with the family until now, clocking up the staggeringly low number of 86,000 kilometres! Accordingly, the 230 is in an almost unbelievably well-preserved state that might is unlikely to be encountered again in the near future. We try to refrain from superlatives, but they just roll off our tongues when describing this car! It would be almost impossible to be more authentic, original or quite simply better. Now we are looking to find a new home for this extraordinarily beautiful Stroke 8, one in which it will be taken care of just as well as it has been in the 38 years of its life so far!
