1961 Jaguar Mk. II 3.4 Litre *
Jaguar presented the Mk. II in October 1959 as a further development of the Mk I.
The compact sports saloon was so subtly modernised that its original characteristics were enhanced. At the time, the 3.4-litre double camshaft engine reached a top speed of above 200. A magic number that very few were able to match. By 1967, when production came to an end, the Mk II. had already become a classic, a distinction reserved for very few premium-class automobiles.
This Jaguar was originally exported to the United States, which is probably why it still has the optional Borg-Warner automatic gearbox. It relocated from there to the Netherlands and was finally exported to Italy and registered there in 1994. It is reasonable to assume that the Jaguar was restored some time in-between, due to its altogether pristine condition. The Mk. II was ASI-certified the same year. Initially registered in Brescia, it was brought to the consignor’s collection in Treviso, Austria, in 2017. Today, the Jaguar Mk. II is regarded as the quintessential classic among the sports saloons. The next owner will doubtless agree wholeheartedly!
