Lovingly restored pontoon Mercedes!

Mercedes-Benz added a diesel version to the new 180 series in early 1954. The new pontoon model coupled lasting quality with the frugality of a camel. The dream vehicle from the South of Germany soon graced the roads worldwide, cropping up with increasing frequency the further south one travelled. These models were most commonly used for everyday transport or as taxis.

This diesel pontoon was part of a high-quality Mercedes collection for decades. Although completed some time ago, its restoration remains entirely convincing today. The blue metallic coat of paint is an earlier, original colour. The interior is in remarkable condition and comes with pleasing, six-seater upholstery. It’s hardly surprising that every single feature of the vehicle seems to work. This pontoon is a truly pleasurable car that invites drivers to set a leisurely pace. The vehicle papers were nowhere to be found after the death of the owner. The chassis number was used to determine the year of its manufacture. Maybe it still needs a touch of reworking, but it appeared to work smoothly on the first few metres, setting a wonderfully slower and peerlessly languid pace and leaving the hustle and bustle of everyday life far behind!
