1955 Citroen 11 CV BL *

1955 Citroen 11 CV BL * - Classic Cars

Citroen launched this state-of-the-art automobile in 1934, featuring a self-supporting body, front-wheel drive, overhead valve engine and torsion rod suspension. It earned the nickname “speedster car” due to its great power with outstanding road handling. The 11 CV, named after the French “control hp”, was built with a variety of bodies but identical mechanics. The ingenious nature of the design is also evidenced by the fact that the II CV remained in the company’s programme in a variety of models for over 20 years, without substantial changes.

This Citroen is an 11 CV BL. BL stands for “Berline Legere“, a lightweight saloon. It has a shorter wheelbase and narrower toe compared to the Berline Normale, making the model more graceful and agile. Built 1955, the BL is already fitted with an external and astonishingly spacious boot. This 11 CV was restored some time ago. The effort invested is as evident under the bonnet as it is in the bodywork, which looks extremely robust. The Citroen relocated from France to Italy in 2003, and was finally added to the consignor’s collection in 2015. Known as the “Traction Avant” for its front-wheel drive, the immense popularity of the 11 CV was everything other than coincidence. If the new owner so wishes, the vehicle certainly remains perfectly suited to everyday use, even after more than 60 years!

VIN: 666733, mileage: 94,968 km (read), displacement: 1,911 cc/R4, power: 56 hp, colour: black/red (synthetic leather), gearbox: 4-speed, papers: Italian vehicle papers
