The painting shows a view of Steyr from the northeast of the River Enns, looking upriver towards the confluence with the River Steyr. In the background can be seen the Tote Gebirge, and on the left bank, beside the estuary of the Steyr, the double towers of St Michael‘s church, with the former Jesuit monastery buildings and the former church of the town hospital. The fire watchtower is shown up on the height „am Tabor“ which was previously part of the town‘s defences; over the bridge in the space between Steyr and Enns stands Lamberg castle with the clock tower and the mighty so-called Roman tower, the former Stirapurch. The old town is adjacent, with the tower of the town hall and the outstanding gothic parish church. Christkindl can be seen by the River Steyr upstream.
