Leonardo Bazzaro: The artist was a pupil of Giuseppe Bertini at the academy in Brera. He started his career painting architectural scenes of Milan and genre paintings. After being distinguished with the gold medal of Milan’s association for the promotion of the arts in 1893, for his depiction of a canal scene in Chiogga, he dedicated himself almost exclusively to the picturesque glorification of this Venetian fishing town as well as other Venetian lagoon scenes. Various paintings by the artist were purchased by the King of Italy, the Brera and Poldi-Pezzoli galleries in Milan and by museums in London and Madrid.
