Provenance: Collection Pasinetti, Venice.; Guglielmo Ciardi: The artist was a pupil of Dom. Bresolin at the Venice Academy. He continued his education in Florence where he was influenced by Tel. Signorini and the Macchiaioli Group, and in Rome and Naples under Dom. Morellis, Fil. Palizzis and Giov. Costas. After numerous study trips through Italy, and Germany and France, he settled in Venice in 1874. He exhibited with great success in Venice, Milan, Vienna, Naples, Rome, Florence, Turin, Paris and Munich. At the Venetian art show of 1909 he exhibited 60 of his atmospheric, open-air landscapes set in his home province of Venice Treviso. He received greatest recognition for his atmospheric, light-filled paintings of Venice, the Venetian lagoon, the foothills of the Alps near Treviso, and the Dolomites.
