Provenance: Private collection of an Austrian aristocratic family. Hubertus van Hove was a very skilled and successful artist. Thieme-Becker praises him as follows: “His paintings are reminiscent of Pieter de Hooch, but the excellent technique, the varied treatment of light, the warm atmosphere and felicitous execution of the material details all serve to lift his paintings above the level of mere copies...”.
