1959 Vespa 150 GS Ex-Franz Maitz (ohne Limit / without reserve)

1959 Vespa 150 GS Ex-Franz Maitz (ohne Limit / without reserve) - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

In 1955 the mechanic Franz Maitz opened his own little shop in Graz. From the very beginning his main business was selling Italian scooters made by Piaggio. In addition he was an Alfa Romeo concessionaire over a quarter of a century. His passion has always been racing, though, on both, four wheels and two. He was the national Rallye champion and at the same time they called him the king of speedway. And he also raced his beloved Vespas like no other.

This GS model surfaced in fully dismantled condition in Germany a few years ago. From there it was brought back to Austria. What was interesting about it were the many modifications that it had, and on top of that, a sheet of paper that came with this convolute of parts. Already the previous owner had sensed that this Vespa must have been something special. In fact his suspicion was eventually confirmed and this 150 GS was once one of the Vespas raced by Franz Maitz. The paper mentioned is the confirmation from the Maitz company. Back in Austria the GS was completed and carefully restored. Franz Maitz passed away in 2018. This Vespa 150 GS will always remind us of him.

Chassis: VS5T*0066491*, Motor: VS5M*00118980*, Bestätigung durch die Firma Maitz, Graz. (Confirmation by Fa. Maitz in Graz)
