1956 Vespa 150 "Struzzo" (ohne Limit / without reserve)

1956 Vespa 150 "Struzzo" (ohne Limit / without reserve) - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

With its Vespa 125 “Königin“ model the German licensee Hoffmann rebuffed Piaggio. The increased power and the headlamp mounted on the handlebar had broken the license agreement, which was subsequently terminated. At the same time it initiated the development of the Vespa 150 type VL. The new model was introduced in 1954 with an engine rated at 5,4 HP, a speedometer and like Hoffmann‘s Königin a headlamp mounted on the handlebar. That‘s where it had its nickname from, Struzzo, which means as much as ostrich in Italian.

The Struzzo was built in three series until 1957 and was an instant success. More than 131,000 examples were built in its four yours of production. Being the first 150 cc model it has become a much coveted collector‘s piece.

This Vespa 150 Struzzo originally came from Italy and has been in Austria for five years now. It has been fully restored to a very high standard and with a lots of attention to all the details. Today it still knows how to thrill with its simply stunning appearance.
