1966 Vespa 50 Super Sprint

1966 Vespa 50 Super Sprint - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

In 1965 Piaggio presented two sports models based on the Smallframe series, with 50 and 90 cc respectively. They were called Super Sprint, or simply SS. They had a tapered legshield, a shorter wheelbase, a shorter handlebar, a lengthways mounted spare wheel with a tool box on top. The 50 SS was tuned to handsome 3,68 horsepower, which made it reach a top speed of 75 km/h according to German Vespa adverts. For 50 cc scooters in Italy only being allowed up to 1,5 HP, the 50 SS was exclusively sold to foreign markets.

From 1965 to 1971 only 2,500 specimen of the 55 Super Sprint were built, which is half the production of its bigger sister, the 90 SS. Especially the first series models with the tool boxes above of the spare wheels mounted in driving direction are among the most sough-after Vespas today.

This Vespa 90 Super Sprint came from Germany to Austria. It had already been comprehensively restored to a high level. Since then it has only been cherished and still amazes with its appearance.

Chassis: V5SS1T*1442*, Motor: V5SS1M*1247*, Deutsche Betriebserlaubnis (Zweitschrift) (German Betriebserlaubnis (duplicate))
