1955 Vespa 150 GS (ohne Limit / without reserve)

1955 Vespa 150 GS (ohne Limit / without reserve) - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

In 1955 Piaggio presented their new top-of-the-line model, the Vespa Grand Sport. As its name suggests the experience from the works racers was essential for its development. Its mission was to satisfy sportive riders. The engine was incredible 8 horses strong, which made the GS break the 100 km/h barrier. For the first time a Vespa was rolling on 10-inch wheels and had a four speed gearbox. Through all the years the GS was Piaggio‘s flagship and the end of its production also marked the end of the first generation of Vespas.

The GS remained in Piaggio‘s program until 1961. Through the years it was continuously refined. Because of its hefty price tag only little more than 126,000 examples were sold. Its capricious mechanics might have also contributed a bit. While its successors would outrun it in every respect, the GS today is, what it has always been, the spearhead of Vespas.

The condition this GS is in speaks for itself at first sight. It was restored to the highest class with incredible attention to all the details. The fact that it is a much wanted first series model leaves no room for doubts or desires whatsoever.
