Rudolf Reschreiter

Rudolf Reschreiter - Dipinti a olio e acquarelli del XIX secolo

(Munich 1868-1939)
View of the Seebensee near Ehrwald in Tirol, signed and inscribed R. Reschreiter Munich, gouache on paper, 63 x 99 cm, Passepartout, framed, (Hu)

Rudolf Reschreiter studied at the Munich Academy under Gabriel von Hackl. He lived and worked in Munich. He largely painted watercolours and was particularly renowned for his hyper-realistic natural depictions. In 1903 he travelled through the South American Cordillera with the geographer Hans Meyer, and visited Ecuador’s 6,263 metre-high Chimborazo volcano, covered by glaciers. Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria acquired the gouache Chimorazo directly from the artist in 1906.
