The present drawing presumably derives from an artist in the immediate circle of Hendrick Goltzius. The sheet is stylistically and in regard of its technique and costume details comparable with several portraits of Goltzius between 1592-1595 in the Graphic Collection of the Albertina, Vienna (Inv. Nr. 17638, 8070, 8071).
