Provenance: Private collection, Belgium.
The attribution to Bartolomeo Passerotti was confrmed by Prof. Paul Joannides, Oxford and Prof. Maria Angela Ghirardi, Bologna on the basis of a photgraph. Prof Ghirardi compares the sheet with a study by Passerotti for the figure of Jupiter in the Musée du Louvre (Inv. 8463). The motif of a male nude seen from behind goes back to a drawing by Raffael which is preserved in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (Inv. Nr. WA1846.200).
