We are grateful to Brian Allen for suggesting the attribution to Lemuel Francis Abott. Abott numbered among the leading portraitists of the Royal Navy of England. His portrait of Lord Nelson, now installed in the Terracotta Room at 10, Downing Street in London, is probably his most well-known work.
