for the Vienna Radiokulturhaus, c. 1935, black lacquered wood, the seat and backrest upholstered and covered with black leather, brass rivets, height 82 cm, width 68 cm. depth 68 cm, height of seat 45 cm. (DRAX)
This chair was part of the interior furnishings of the Vienna Radiokulturhaus, Austria’s first broadcasting station, which was built by Clemens Holzmeister between 1935 and 1939.
Provenance: studio of the Austrian broadcasting corporation (Radiokulturhaus) in No. 30 Argentinierstraße, 1040 Vienna – private ownership, Vienna, since the 1970s.
