A rare “Tectaform” chair, Model No. 801, designed by Arnold Bode, - Design

c. 1952, for Domus Raumkunst, Germany, black lacquered bent laminated wood, upholstery (replaced), covered with original cream coloured and grey textile fabric, brass bolts, height 70 cm, width 55 cm, depth 72.5 cm, height of seat 39 cm. (DRAX)

With a design drawing by Arnold Bode in photocopy, as part of a portfolio with designs for “Tectaform” furniture that Bode personally dedicated to then-Domus director Schöck, dated “mid-February 1953”.

In the 1950s, Arnold Bode primarily worked as an interior decorator and designer. In 1955 he founded the Kassel documenta together with Werner Haftmann, which has been the most important international exhibition of contemporary art ever since. He functioned as its artistic director until 1968.
