Silver, round, meander decoration, three-dimensional bird decoration, two vase drip guards with drip rim, engraved monogram "R" with Archducal crown, underside engraved "SCHLOSS MAYERLING", height 19,5 cm, weight 405 g, master’s mark EW = Eduard Weichesmüller, Vienna Diana head hallmark from 1872,(Lu)

Rare museum quality object from the fittings of the hunting castle Mayerling. The property at Mayerling was acquired in 1886 by Crown Prince Rudolf and converted into a hunting castle. The candelabrum comes from the original fittings of the castle as acquired by Crown Prince Rudolf. Objects from the original installation are extremely rare as following the tragedy of 1889 Emperor Franz Joseph I. had it converted into a convent.
