Satyendra Pakhalé, born in 1967, describes himself as a “cultural nomad” having grown up in the heart of India, trained in India and Switzerland, and worked internationally over the last two decades. He explores the relationship between the industrial, the handmade, and the serially produced in his studio. He produces work for the spectrum of the design market, he creates industrial products for mass production and does research in his studio resulting in edition pieces. Pakhalé’s designs are significant as they reference a diversity of cultural connections paired with the innovative use of materials and technology. Motivated by social, technological, ecological, industrial, and cultural parameters, he considers the design profession an expression of true human optimism.
