We are grateful to Christian Tico Seifert for confirming this to be a painting by Moeyaert based on a photograph.
Claes Moeyaert was best known for his historical, biblical, and mythological scenes, in particular his biblical paintings influenced by the work of Pieter Lastman. At the height of his career, 1638, he was one of the artists chosen for the decorations on the occasion of the French Queen Maria of Medici’s entrance into Amsterdam. His triumphal arch at the city gate was praised by contemporary critics.
