The work of Dücker belongs in equal measure to the Russian, Estonian and German school of landscape painting. The Landscape with an Estonian Farm in Midsummer reveals a great similarity to the work Oak Forest in the Region of Revel (1862, Tretjakow Gallery, Moscow). Dücker, who was a student of S. Vorobjows, was awarded the Große Goldmedaille and Nocturne a foreign scholarship at the Kaiserliche Kunstakademie (Imperial Art Academy) for this work. Panorama in Livonia, another great landscape of Dücker’s, was exhibited in 1862 at the London International Exhibition. See: cat. of the Russian Section. International Exhibition of 1862.
