Hieronymus Galle I
(Antwerp 1625–after 1682 Brussels)
A floral still life with carnations, peonies and lilies,
oil on canvas, 73.5 x 61.5 cm, framed
Galle received his training under Abraham Hachts and became a master of the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp in 1645/46. His work was especially influenced by Daniel Seghers’s still life painting. However, he created light and shade effects much more intensely than the latter.
