The present painting is a replica in the artist’s own hand of the painting in the collection of the Marquess of Exeter in Burghley House (see B. Kerber, Addenda zu Giovanni Francesco Romanelli, in: Giessener Beiträge zur Kunstgeschichte, vol. 4, 1979, p. 1–18, plate IV, fig. 10).
