This prototype of a kinetic light is based on a design by Gaetano Pesce from 1963. Compared to the original object, which was much larger, the lamp was to be industrially produced by Arteluce or Flos measuring 60 x 60 cm. Two prototypes were made with differently arranged illuminating diodes. The metal box received Arteluce’s typical hammered finish. However, the plan was not realised, as the then-management was of the opinion that the lamp would not be a commercial success. From the two prototypes manufactured by Flos, one piece went to Gaetano Pesce; later on, Hans-Rüdiger Bruckmann, CEO of Flos Germany in the 1970s and 1980s, received the second piece.
