Lele cups would be presented and admired for their sculptural qualities before its contents were shared. This cup represents the patron who commissioned it. The face is well proportioned in its abstraction, with cubistic protruding eyes, nose and mouth. The expression is serene and controlled and shows the owners state of being. Signs of use, deep rich patina. Wood. 19 cm. high. Around 1900.
